About the Bead: In 2017, fans of the University of Iowa college football team started a remarkable tradition. During home games, fans in the stands turn and wave to children in nearby Stead Family Children's Hospital, who can see the stadium from the upper floors of the hospital. We've captured this heartwarming gesture in the Iowa Wave Bead and hope it reminds you that you always have the power to make someone smile.
About the Artist: Audra Delashmutt has been making glass beads for over 15 years. Currently living in Illinois, Audra was born and raised in Iowa. Inspired by the first quarter wave, she wanted kids at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital to have a way to remember that special occurrence all year. Even though we may not be in the stadium, we are still waving to you!
