About the Artist: Katie Baum has been focused on art full time since 2006, when she hung up her hat as a middle school teacher and joined Art Clay World USA. Currently, Katie is one of the few North American Art Clay Master Instructors, and travels the world teaching and representing the metal clay industry as Vice President of Art Clay World USA. She also enjoys working with polymer clay, adding color to her world through sculptures and figures, nearly always in the spirit of whimsical creatures and silly characters.
About the Bead: "As a child, I wished that I could really swim in the ocean like a mermaid, or fly on a Pegasus, or have a pet dragon – so I wanted to create a bead that inspires the lighthearted possibility of wishes and hope. I made a magic lamp with a wee genie inside, peeking out, ready to grant the wishes of all who behold it." – Katie Baum
